Welcome to Stellenbosch – South Africa’s second oldest town and most inspiring wine, food, art and cultural destination.

Nothing spells relaxation quite like a lazy Sunday! And when you’re “Sundaying” in Stellenbosch, the day beckons with more relaxation or adventure than you can possibly imagine. No matter what your perfect Sunday looks like, you’ll find the perfect activity to enjoy in our warmhearted town.

Jan Marais Park
Jan Marais was the benefactor for the establishment of the Jan Marais Nature Reserve (the same person who was the benefactor for Stellenbosch University). The Reserve is approximately 23 hectares in size and is roughly divided into a disturbed area (3-4 ha) and a undisturbed area with about two veld types: Swartland Fynbos and Swartland Renosterveld. The Jan Marais Nature Reserve was opened in 1919 at a planting ceremony, where an Oak tree was planted by the mayor, Mr. Charlie Neethling. The park makes for a wonderful Sunday in the great outdoors surrounded by the beauty of the Stellenbosch surrounds.
