Welcome to Stellenbosch – South Africa’s second oldest town and most inspiring wine, food, art and cultural destination.

Tickled pink at the prospect of spring? We’d argue that rain or shine, bubbly is always a good idea – pink or otherwise.

If you’re a fan of fizz, as we are of course, you’ve come to the right place. From Brut to brilliant, blush your way through glorious spring days with Stellenbosch’s finest pink bubbly.

We’ve got the inside track, and yes we’re keen to share it with you. After all, there’s nothing we love more in Stellenbosch than good times with good friends. We’re the warm heart of the Winelands and we know how to put the sparkle into any afternoon.

Where to go? Here are our top picks:

Koelenhof Wines

Wait for those bubbles to hit your tongue and there’s plenty from which to choose – two Cap Classique and two sparkling wines for you to sample. Why drink alone when you can pair your bubbles with a sweet treat? Koelenhof Wines offers an excellent Cap Classique, sparkling wine and sweet treats pairing for only R90 per person. Yet another reason for you to visit? Its excellent traditional Roosterkoek – it’s the only place in Stellenbosch that sells it. Then of course, there’s always the sorbet and wine pairing, featuring four types of sorbet and two gelato flavours. Your sweet tooth will thank you.

L’Avenir

While the L’Avenir cheese and wine experience is renowned, the star of this show is undoubtedly L’Avenir’s Rosé Cap Classique. Let its crispy finish and vibrant mousse and biscuit flavours infuse every sense. And where better to enjoy such splendour than at L’Avenir’s elegant tasting room, inspired by French bistro culture. It’s spring so take full advantage and find a spot for an epic wine tasting and food pairing against the backdrop of L’Avenir’s beautiful gardens next to the farm’s lake. Absolute bliss.

Louisvale

Stand by for a fruity favourite. Louisvale Wines is the place to be in Devon Valley and while its perhaps most celebrated for its outstanding Chardonnay, their Cap Classique Chardonnay and Chardonnay Pinot Noir bubbles are certainly not to be missed. Think freshly cut strawberries and cherries and lazy afternoons sampling wine in the beautiful tasting room located within the 100-year-old Manor house or newly built Venue.

Simonsig

Energetic dancing pearls – that’s how Simonsig describes its delicate Kaapse Vonkel Brut Rosé. We think it’s an apt description and love sharing the elegance and style of this full-flavoured dry sparkling Cap Classique.  There are so many reasons to visit Simonsig, besides its celebrated pink bubbly, but perhaps our favourite is to witness an epic display of Sabrage. Life is sweeter with Kaapse Vonkel Satin Nectar. Just how much sweeter? Pop in for a visit and find out!

Spier

This is one secret you won’t want to keep. Spier touts its Spier Secret Sparkling Wine as a ‘secret’ made for sharing. Beyond its beautiful packaging, Spier Secret certainly is something to toast as you celebrate its fresh berry aromas in the glorious sunshine of a spring day. You’ll be spoilt for choice during your visit to Spier. Enjoy a wine tasting, hop on a Segway and whizz through the vineyards, or settle under a tree for a gourmet picnic with loved ones. Perhaps do all three!

Villiera

Nothing says ‘decadence’ quite like a Villiera Cap Classique and Nougat Tasting. How about a sip of light Grier Brut with honey nougat and almonds? Or perhaps Tradition Brut Rosé with Goji berry, almond and rooibos tea? Whether its bubbly with Blanc de Noir or Pinotage, the perfect pairing of Cap Classique and nougat is not something your tastebuds are going to forget soon. Tastings available Mondays through Fridays from 09h00 to 17h00, and on Saturdays from 09h00 to 15h00. Be sure to book your spot. You won’t want to miss out.

Enjoy an effervescent bubbly-filled day and kickstart spring the way you mean to see it through – long, lazy and self-indulgent. You deserve a little warm heart of Stellenbosch and we’d love you to experience it with a bit of pink bubbly in hand.
