The International Wine Education Centre (IWEC) was established in 2011 as the first Approved Programme Provider for the internationally-recognised Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) in South Africa. WSET, however, was established in 1969 in London and is recognised as the market leader throughout the world for international wine and spirit education. It is currently taught in some 73 countries all around the world in 19 different languages.
WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is our most popular wine course, suitable for anyone looking to build a career in the wine industry as well as enthusiastic wine-lovers who simply want to find out more about their favourite local and international wines.
The course lasts for two full and busy days during which you will learn about the world’s great grape varieties, how they behave in different countries and regions, how sparkling, sweet and fortified wines are made as well as spirits and liqueurs. Tasting approximately 40 wines, most of them international, will give you a thorough grounding in the Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine© a system used in most major international competitions.
There will be a one hour exam consisting of 50 multiple choice questions on Saturday 5th September 2020.
The cost for the WSET Level 2 course is currently R7,900
