The Stellenbosch University Museum invites you to a Wednesday Art Talkabout with Marsha MacDowell, Carolyn Mazloomi and Dorothy Burge, in conversation about Quilts and Human Rights. Quilts are often thought of as textiles that comfort others. However, textile artists also use thread, needle, and fabrics to make quilts that provide disquieting, uncomfortable truths. Drawing primarily from a recent U.S. exhibition called “We Are The Story”, this Wednesday Art Talkabout will highlight powerful images and stories about how Black Lives Matter and how individuals are affected by racism, police brutality, and denials of human rights.
