Art lovers, take note! October marks an exciting moment on the Stellenbosch Art Mile as new installations and creative surprises are unveiled along this 1.6km stretch. Blending culture with a scenic stroll, the Art Mile continues to transform Stellenbosch into a living gallery, free for all to explore year-round.
REFLECT: BEYOND THE SURFACE
The Stellenbosch Art Mile is proud to present its brand-new 2025/2026 exhibition, Reflect: Beyond the Surface. Stretching exactly one mile between Markotter Bridge and Coetzenburg Bridge, the route offers a unique journey where art and environment come together in unexpected ways.
Each October, the Mile renews itself with fresh works while allowing select pieces from previous years to remain, creating a dialogue between the past and present. As the 2024/2025 theme Tapestry of Time gives way to Reflect, visitors are invited to pause, immerse, gather, and truly engage with the art around them.
A Theme of Reflection
This year’s exhibition delves into the many dimensions of reflection. From the play of light and mirrors to the doubling of movement, from echoes of memory to the quiet act of introspection, the works encourage visitors to consider what lies beyond the surface. Every installation becomes both a mirror and a lens — a way of looking at the world, and at ourselves, from new perspectives.
Take a walk along this outdoor route and discover installations that engage the senses and spark conversation, turning a mile-long path into a meaningful journey.
