Holistic Support for Thriving Communities
StellCARE’s programs span early childhood development, enterprise development, and child protection, fostering resilience and self-sufficiency. The organization also prioritizes sustainable livelihoods and victim empowerment, reinforcing its commitment to safer, healthier communities. Central to its approach is the preservation of family structures through prevention and early intervention, ensuring children remain with their families wherever possible.
Nieuwoudt, a seasoned social work professional, brings her expertise in child protection, family mediation, and community mobilization to the forefront. She is passionate about advocating for the underprivileged, building safety networks for children and families, and equipping individuals with the tools to break the cycle of poverty.
A key focus over the last four years has been addressing gender-based violence (GBV), with StellCARE’s flagship Eye-on-Community programme forming the cornerstone of these efforts. This initiative promotes community safety and protects vulnerable groups through the tireless contributions of 60 dedicated volunteers. Their work includes daily school patrols and park supervision to safeguard children, support for missing persons and the elderly, and assistance to victims of violence. Additional services include court preparation, court support, and help with protection order applications. Eye-on-Community exemplifies a holistic approach to creating safer communities while providing essential support to those most at risk.
A Legacy of Impact
With a career spanning roles such as Assistant Director at Child Welfare SA and Manager at the Richtersveld Agricultural Cooperative, Nieuwoudt’s professional journey reflects her unwavering dedication to community development. Today, her work at StellCARE is a testament to her vision of healthy communities, thriving families, and safe, happy children.
