BABYLONSTOREN CELEBRATES DOUBLE TRIUMPH: VOTED #1 HOTEL IN SOUTHERN AFRICA BY CONDÉ NAST TRAVELLER READERS AND AHEAD MEA AWARD WIN FOR SPA AND WELLNESS DESIGN
October 2023
Babylonstoren, nestled amidst the scenic beauty of South Africa’s Cape Winelands, is basking in the glory of two recent prestigious awards that highlight its commitment to excellence in the world of hospitality.
Condé Nast Traveller announced the results of its annual Readers’ Choice Awards on October 3rd, with Babylonstoren recognised as the #1 hotel in Southern Africa for the third consecutive year. Over 526 518 Condé Nast Traveller readers cast their votes, doubling the previous year’s participation.
“Thank you to our loyal guests, dedicated staff and valued partners who have contributed to this achievement,” says Dalené Claassens, director of hotel and hospitality at Babylonstoren. “Our hotel invites guests to immerse themselves in the beauty of a working farm. Whether it’s exploring lush orchards on guided farm walks, embarking on exhilarating water buffalo tours, enjoying farm-to-fork table experiences or moments of relaxation by the pool or in the garden, our diverse range of activities caters to nature enthusiasts, culinary explorers and those simply seeking a breather.”
The Readers’ Choice Awards are the most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry, reflecting the preferences of Condé Nast Traveller’s discerning audience across various travel sectors.
Babylonstoren has also triumphed in the AHEAD MEA, the Awards for Hospitality Experience and Design, specifically in the Spa and Wellness category, which were announced in Dubai, The Palm, on 28 September. Organised by industry-leading publication Sleeper, the AHEAD awards celebrate exceptional hospitality projects across the globe, moderated by regional judging panels comprised of architects, interior designers, hoteliers and industry commentators.
The Babylonstoren Hot Spa, unveiled last spring, captivated the judges with its innovative design that seamlessly integrates nature and luxury.
This award celebrates Babylonstoren’s commitment to providing an unparalleled wellness experience, complete with a marbled double hammam, a botanically inspired Rasul chamber, sauna, salt room, vitality pools and a 16-meter-long heated swimming pool beneath a glass-panelled pitched roof.
Tania Odendaal, spa manager, emphasises the unique connection to nature within the spa, saying, “The new space is an indoor-outdoor experience, an environment that becomes part of the therapeutic experience. It is all about a connection to nature and the farm surrounds throughout the seasons.”
